Lynna Youngerman (Founding Member)

Civic background:  Friends of San Clemente Beaches, Parks and Recreation Foundation secretary, president and member since 2003.  Volunteer docent at Casa Romantica and the Ocean Institute  in Dana Point.

Personal background:  Born, raised and educated in the San Gabriel valley, my husband and I escaped to San Clemente in 1967. We bought a house and raised our two kids here but I taught in Mission Viejo – one teacher in the Capistrano district was enough. We participated in all of the usual school activities but Sundays were reserved for beach volleyball at T-street and in a park in the winter. We rooted and supported all of the Concordia, Shorecliffs and SCHS activities.  With the kids out of college and retirement, I enrolled in every recreation class which I was ever interested in and never had time for – yoga, tennis, golf, art – and started volunteering and traveling. I am on the board for my condo association in Mammoth. I take at least one cruise each year and keep active with tennis and golf. My two grand kids are in Portland so frequent trips are required. I feel that recreation and a clean ocean are the best things which our grandkids can inherit from us.
